In the vineyard: Every year, for spring, we replace about 6 hectares of old vines where some plants were missing, dead or attacked by disease. This allows us to set up better agricultural habits, always thinking about how to increase the quality of the grapes and how to enhance the work in the vineyard. This work must be done when the risk of winter frost is past and before the risk of summer dryness to protect the delicate young plants. Before we plant new vines, the soil has a rest period, it is ploughed to get oxygen and we can add, if necessary, the mineral salts missing.

Equipment:
To improve the quality of the harvest trying to reduce the effect of our activity on the environment, we bought this year a new harvest machine New Holland 9060L.

This tool allows us t pick up only ripe berries and to leave green ones on the vine. In addition, grapes are destalked by the machine so we save a lot of time in the cellar, which reduces the risk of oxydisation. The result is perfect, we no longer have vegetal parts in the tanks.

This harvesting machine can also be used for the other tasks of the vineyard (spraying, pruning, ploughing, topping...) to make the investment quickly profitable.

What is very different with this machine is that there is an electronic control of the engine (called IMS system) which always adapt the engine speed to the quantity of work to do. The result is a fuel consumption reduced by 30%...

In the cellar:

Since the crop 2010, we bought a new press Bucher Xpert 150. This new machine allows big volume macerations for white wines, which means that we save time and this reduces the risk of oxydisation before fermentations. The soft and long pressing provides powerful and elegant wines, and offers a precise work thanks to electronic programs according to the type of wine we want to make. Lastly, thanks to high pressure and high temperature cleaning system, the hygiene is perfect after each use.
